Activism Through Dance
Addie is committed to promoting good will and unity through the
art of Latin dance establishing an open approach in an environment
that is safe, secure and fun to all children/teenagers and adults
who seek guidance particularly in impoverished drug stricken communities.
Her desire to give back to the community is obvious as she conducts
therapeutic dance classes to drug addicts in rehabilitation at El
Regreso Foundation, founded by Executive Director, Mr. Carlos Pagan.
It
is with pride that Addie instills a great sense of confidence and
positive self-image. She teaches how to appreciate our Latin culture
through history, music and dance--Mambo, Salsa, American Jazz, Basic
Classic Ballet, Plena, and Afro-Cuban movement.
The Diva has had the experience of working with Deaf Adolescents
in the Lexington School for the Deaf, where she taught and choreographed
the graduation dance program. All through the communication of Sign
language (body-language), interpreters and very loud Bass in the
music, the students performed a medley of African rhythms, Plena,
Columbian Cumbia, Hip-Hop, Merengue and New York Style Salsa.
Recently, Addie has also shared in developing trust, positive thinking
and physical exercise in the Fulton and Baltic St. Out Patient Department
(Psychiatric Clinic) and also at the Heights-Hill Mental Health
Service South Beach Psychiatric Center in Flatbush.
Without conclusion, Ms. Razz M' Tazz shows how to keep a good attitude,
a sense of fair play, humor and patience while learning to complete
any task. Enhancing total concentration and creativity while also
learning discipline and strategy.
Community Credits
Her strong ties with the community are apparent in the many performances
for the NYPD, which include 10/13 Parties (officer needs assistance
benefit dance), The Scholarship Dinner dance at Leornards of Greatneck
and the NYPD graduation ball.
It is with pride that Addie also shares the talents and encouragement
at the U.S Department of Justice Federal Bureau Prisons Detention
Center for the staff during Hispanic Heritage Month.At the Federal
Bureau of prison in Ottisville, NY in 1999, performance for 1,200
inmates.
Addie has utilized her dance skills as a tool for developing ideas
and methods for leading a drug free environment. Encouraging and
developing new talent and build bridges of understanding among people
of different backgrounds. Teaching leadership skills, conflict resolution
skills, multi-cultural education and awareness. She does this by
conducting dance workshops in Public schools, colleges and universities
such as-P.S.18/I.S.286-Laguardia College, and The Hotchkiss School.
Recognized with awards and letters of appreciation she has involved herself
in the 7th Annual New York State Assembly-Senate Puerto Rican/Hispanic
Taskforce Conference in Albany, Bushwick-Ridgewood Senior Home,
Maira Hernandez Park Youth Day Celebration, and the 4th & 5th Annual
Three Kings Celebration and Cultural Exchange sponsored by the Bronx
Council on the Arts. The Purple Heart Annual Dinner Dance for Veterans
in 1998-99 and the Latin -American Hispanic Month Celebration in North Carolina.
